On May 4, 1999, Mari Frank, Esq. gave a speech at the White House (featured on CSPANII) on Consumer Privacy and Identity Theft.  Here she is thanking President Clinton for launching a Consumer Protection and Financial Privacy Proposal to Congress.

Consumer protection, financial, personal and medical privacy are going to be critical issues as we enter the millenium.  Here Mari is speaking to the audience about the seriousness of the need for consumers to have control over their confidential information. Consumers "have the right to know who has their information, how it is being used, and how it can be corrected if it is wrong. They also should have a right to protect their information from being  corrupted or sold without their permission."
